Program Assistants reports directly to the Program Director
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Good verbal communication skills Ability to see the person first (empathy not sympathy) Physical ability to assist with transfer and physical support of participants Basic computer skills with willingness to advance skills Positive attitude Experience with persons with disabilities desirable but not required Interest/ skill in music, arts and physical movement desirable but not required CPR, First Aid training is desirable Specific responsibilities Follow the directions/instructions of Program Director Initiate and participate in games/activities with participants in groups and one-on-one Assist with design and proactively initiate music, art, craft and physical movement activities Supervise participant interactions-visually observe behavior changes and physical movement/location of participants Provide role model of caring and social responsibility Set up area for daily activities Supervise and assist with clean up of area at end of each day Be prepared to direct/redirect activities in event of disruption Be flexible and willing to adjust as conditions change Job Type:
